Today was Micah's "meet the teacher" day at preschool. (I can't believe he starts next week!) The whole time we were getting ready to go, he was asking me if he could show his teacher his new shoes, some toys from home, and whatever he else he saw. He was pretty excited! His teacher's name is Mrs. Dalynne (sp?). When we first got there, she greeted him, and he immediately hid behind daddy's legs and wouldn't talk to her. They had a little craft set up, so I got him started on that. He decorated a foam, visor-style hat with stickers and letters...the theme for the meet and greet was Mad Hatter's Tea Party. After about 20 minutes or so, he was checking out the room and playing with some of the toys, and he looks up and says, "mommy, when are y'all going to leave?" lol, I guess next week is going to go well. I think he's going to have a great time, and he's going to learn so much. Can't wait to see how he takes to reading!! I'm curious to see if I will cry next week...right now I'm just looking forward to it! I really think it's going to be such a positive experience for all of us.
So after meeting his teacher, we had a couple of errands to run for the lingerie shower I'm doing this weekend. We stopped in at Dollar Tree to pick up plates and look for decorations. I parked and then almost left, cause I was thinking there's no way I can go in this store with all three kids--the carts are too small! But, as I was pulling away, I noticed little bit bigger carts, and thought, "ok, I can do this...Micah will have to walk, Malachi will ride in the bottom part, and Maddox's carrier will fit in the top part". Are you visualizing with me? Anyways, we went in and were looking around (Micah was doing a pretty good job listening and holding on to the cart) when I leaned down to get something off the bottom shelf, and all of the sudden CRASH! Micah toppled the cart over on himself (I have to laugh again as I type this...it's either laugh or cry hysterically)!! Now remember the placement of children in the cart??? Well, the cart fell over on Micah with Malachi IN IT, AND the BABY!!! The carrier popped off the top part when it hit the floor and turned over on its side. (ok, really, I'm still laughing, so as not to cry!) OMG!!! Two men heard it and came running over to see if everybody was ok, and help pick the cart up. I turned the carrier over and Maddox was completely fine--THANK GOD he was still buckled in!!! Malachi was ok, too. Micah, on the other hand, was a crying mess! He was mostly just scared and embarrassed I think, but he did have a little red place on his arm near his shoulder where the cart hit him...it might leave a bruise. So we survived...barely! LOL, Micah didn't let go of the cart the rest of the time we were in the store, and has never been a better listener after that!! I kept it together the rest of the time we were in the store, then when we left, I called Michael to tell him what happened. I could barely get the story out for laughing...boy, was I wound up tight after that experience! Just so I don't seem unconcerned about the welfare of my children, let me explain that the laughter was in place of hysterical tears!
LOL...oh, man! The adventures of motherhood! It will truly be a miracle if I'm not gray headed by 35!
Oh my word!!! What a day! You had a me moment- laughing uncontrollably in a tense situation. =D
